Elephant Pharmacy

Yesterday, a local chained drugstore Elephant Pharmacy suddenly closed its' door indefinitely-the news came without warning. I would call Elephant Pharmacy sort of a boutique drug store, they started their operation about four years ago(at least that's when I was aware of it), just before they closed, they had three locations in the Bay Area. It's another casualty of this economic climate. It's quite unfortunate because they were trying to start a different kind of drug store. On top of the usual accommodations they had as in most drugstores, they also had specialists in the field of alternative medicine stationed in the store to give advice and care, and they held meditation and alternative health sessions in the store(this is Berkeley, after all), the store was becoming a networking spot for some of the locals, they were building a niche. I never actually bought anything from there, except for the occasional newspaper purchases and the gift purchases. I was disappointed to see it go though.
