Chinese characters for the words Greed and Poor

I suddenly thought of these two Chinese characters one day, perhaps the thought was inspired by recent crisis of the financial system, the decadence and corruption of the practices by some of the top people of the financial institutions. I had never really analyzed these two characters before, now looking at them side by side, they look very similar, the difference between them is only two strokes, which is very ironic and poignant. People had understood the action and consequence between greed and poor, they had known that since the beginning of human civilization, that greed could cause men to loose everything. The blinding truth is all there, when you see the two characters side by side.

Street Styles

"Little see through black dress"-digital art

Through the creator of the blog "Parlance", I got introduced to a blog called The Sartorialist. It's an amazing blog of collages of stunning street photos of stylish people. Who needs to see candid shots of celebrities styles? The photos on The Sartorialist are beautiful in terms of compositions, people's attitudes, saturation of colors, and great individual styles-there are just so many wonderful details in each photo. No wonder each entry would receive at least on average eighty comments.

Palette of Hope and Spring

Michelle Obama made a very deliberate choice of color for the inauguration ceremony. She skipped the traditional popular colors of primary blue and red, usually favored by the first ladies. Instead, she'd chosen golden lime-green, green being a symbolic color of renewal and freshness, and the golden hue has the symbolic meaning of royal and optimism. I thought it was a bold, appropriate, and refreshing choice, very consistent with her style, which is classy, bold, with elements of surprise and always a little out of the box.

Take it to the next level

In my figurative paintings, I often use chalk pastels in a finger painting technique, for me, it works, I am very comfortable painting like that. So for digital painting, I have gotten the Bamboo pen pad, and have been playing around with it for a few weeks, trying to find a way which works for me, and interestingly, I think I have just cracked the surface, and it is still the more painterly dried brush look which I prefer, even for drawing in photoshop or Corel Painter. It's very interesting, I tried to do the flat silhouette cut out fashion figures, they are very popular in the art stock industry, not that I couldn't do it, but that's not my cup of tea, I just couldn't get excited about the process of creating cut out silhouettes. If I do do that style, I still prefer to make it look a bit more painterly, with feeling of brush strokes.
